How Does Laundry Pickup and Delivery Work on the Saanich Peninsula?

Two drawstring laundry bags waiting on a front step for pickup and delivery

Laundry pickup and delivery on the Saanich Peninsula works in four steps: you book by phone or online, have your laundry bagged and ready for collection, it is washed and folded at the shop in Sidney, and it comes back to you folded and bagged after a one or two day turnaround. Pickups and deliveries run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and the round trip costs $15.00 in Sidney and within 15 km of the shop. To start, book a pickup.

How do I book a laundry pickup?

You can book by phone at 778-426-0020 or through the online pickup form. The form asks for your contact information, your address and your preferred pickup date and time, and the shop confirms the details once it receives the request. You do not need to be home for the pickup, because you can leave the bag in a designated spot. Raise anything that affects the order when you book, including questions about same-day turnaround and any special-care instructions for items in the bag.

What should I put in the bag?

Clothing, towels and sheets are the usual contents of a wash-and-fold bag, and it helps to empty the pockets first. If an item needs different handling, such as a garment that may shed colour or a delicate piece that needs gentler washing, say so when you book and name the item. The shop’s order system records special-care instructions against each individual item, so a specific note is more useful than a general one. Bulky items such as duvets and pet beds are worth mentioning when you book as well, so that the shop knows to expect them.

What happens to my laundry at the shop?

Each customer’s laundry is washed separately from anyone else’s, using the shop’s own eco-friendly soap blends. The shop describes its approach as allergy-aware and will wash unscented on request, so mention it when you book if fragrance is a concern. After washing, the laundry is dried and folded at the shop before it comes back to you.

How long does laundry pickup and delivery take?

Expect a one or two day turnaround. If you need it sooner, ask when you book.

How much does laundry pickup and delivery cost?

Wash-and-fold is $2.00 per pound with a 12 lb minimum charge, and the pickup and delivery fees are added on top. In Sidney and within 15 km of the shop, pickup is $7.50 and delivery is $7.50, so the round trip is $15.00. Beyond 15 km, the fee is $10.00 each way, and addresses around Uptown in Saanich, about 25 km away, are $15.00 each way. Here are two examples for an 18 lb order:

  • Within 15 km: 18 lb at $2.00 per pound is $36, plus $15.00 for pickup and delivery, for a total of $51.
  • Beyond 15 km: the same $36 plus $10.00 each way comes to $56.

The full schedule is on the price list, and the shop notes that the most current pricing is available by phone or at the facility.

Which areas does pickup and delivery cover?

Pickup and delivery covers the Saanich Peninsula, including North Saanich (for example Deep Cove and Tsehum Harbour) and Central Saanich (for example Brentwood Bay and Saanichton). It also runs a Greater Victoria route through Saanich neighbourhoods such as Royal Oak, Cordova Bay and Gordon Head. The Saanich Peninsula laundry service page lists the neighbourhoods in full. Because the pickup fee depends on the distance from the shop, confirm the fee for your address when you book.

What does the service not cover?

Ruby Tuesday’s does not offer dry cleaning, which has been discontinued, and it does not launder wool or silk duvets. Down and synthetic duvets are washed in house in any size. The page on dry cleaning in Sidney has more on that service. For other tasks that are not on the price list, the shop says it is happy to help and will give a quote on request.

How do I schedule my first pickup?

To schedule a pickup, use the online pickup form or call the shop. The services page sets out everything the shop washes.
